Overview of the university

Università IULM is the centre of excellence in Italy for training in Communication and New Media, Languages, Tourism, Arts and Creative Industries.

Knowledge, awareness and expertise. For more than 50 years, Università IULM has built its educational mission on these three cornerstones. Integrating cultural preparation, soft skills and professional competence, the University stands as a meeting point between higher learning and business.

Università IULM sets the Student as the core of its mission, taking care of aspects of university life such as the interaction between Student and Faculty, the connection with the real world and the support of collaborative learning and creative thinking.

History

Università IULM  was founded in 1968. From the very beginning the idea behind the project was to satisfy the demands of the labor market based on the analysis of current trends.

The mission of Università IULM  is to train excellent professionals/specialists through an education based on the deep knowledge of communication strategies and foreign languages. According to Almalaurea’s 2024 Report, the high employment rate for IULM graduates is above the national average, 65% of those who earned an undergraduate degree from IULM have found stable employment within a year of graduating, and 81% of those who earned a two-year masters degree from IULM have found a job within a year of graduating.

Student life

Università IULM offers first-year students a peer tutoring scheme to support them across the early stages of their new experience. The aim is to facilitate transition and improve the quality of the students’ academic and social engagement.

The University stands out as an ultra-modern complex, technologically advanced and equipped with structures and spaces to provide space for studying, research and also for being together.

In a students centered 65.000 sqm Campus you'll find: two residences, 4 food/beverage outlets, a library with a collection of more than 240,000 catalogued books, more than 1,300 periodicals and around 56,000 films, documentaries and language courses, dedicated classrooms for studying, consulting offices for scholarships requests or Erasmus Program, and constant guidance, mentoring and counselling.

Accommodation

Università IULM has 240 beds distributed in two university residences with double rooms of 20 square meters all with private bathroom, equipped with 2 single beds, 2 wardrobes, 2 desks, a shelf and satellite TV. On arrival students receive sheets and blankets. In the common areas of the Residence there are a TV room, computer room with Internet connection, a coin-operated laundry.

Study abroad information

With the Erasmus+ programme for study, IULM students can spend one or two semesters of their mobility at a European university that holds an ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) with which IULM has signed a bilateral agreement and has received a Community scholarship.

During their mobility the Erasmus student can take exams, carry out thesis research or a period of "combined mobility" study + internship (provided that the internship is provided for in the IULM university curriculum) with the guarantee that the activities agreed and then acquired abroad are recognized upon return through credit transfer and conversion of marks.

An Erasmus student may receive a monthly Community scholarship as a 'flat-rate contribution to mobility costs' or benefit only from Erasmus status (without a scholarship). The student is required to pay the IULM tuition fees but no contribution is due to the host university.
