Course overview

If you are passionate about working with people then a Counselling major in the Bachelor of Science will put you on the right path.

With a practical focus, the Counselling major will equip you with the skills necessary to manage the demands of a human services practitioner and a solid foundation to work in community organisations.

Combine the 8-unit Counselling major with a 12-unit Psychology major in the Bachelor of Science to strengthen your job opportunities. USQ's 12-unit Psychology major within the Bachelor of Science is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

Professional accreditation

The Counselling major within the Bachelor of Science will not be accredited by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). To become a member of PACFA you should study the Bachelor of Human Services (Counselling).

The Bachelor of Science (Counselling) will contribute towards PACFA eligibility: if students attend the voluntary residential schools within the Bachelor of Science Counselling major, their attendance will be recorded so their attendance will meet a proportion of the required number of hours of face-to-face instruction/tuition for eligibility to join a PACFA affiliate upon graduation. Students not attending the residential school will not accrue any hours toward eligibility to join a PACFA affiliate upon graduation.
