Course overview
In mathematics and statistics major students will learn about examining the fundamentals of theoretical and applied statistics, mathematical modelling and operations research, the degree incorporates practical methods for undertaking analysis, modelling and decision-making. There is currently a shortage of professional statisticians across a range of industries in Australia. Graduates of this degree have found work with the Queensland Office of Gaming Regulation, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Queensland Treasury. Students may find work as a financial analyst, systems analyst, risk or focus analyst, business systems analyst, biostatistician, statistical analyst, data analyst, psychological statistician, finance consultant, business analyst or psychometrician.
