Undergraduate study

The University offers over 400 undergraduate honours degrees across a wide range of subjects. Each is designed to equip you with the skills to stand out in the job market or to progress to further study.

If you don’t yet have the required qualifications or level of English language, Kent offers a range of ofundaiton programmes at the University of Kent International College. If you need to improve your academic skills and English language ability you may also like to joi one of our pre-sessional courses. Free English lessons are also available during your studies.

The postgraduate experience

It is an exciting time to be a postgraduate student at Kent. The University offers a range of taught programmes and research opportunities including distance learning and continuing professional development (CPD). Students benefit from a rich and stimulating research culture and are encouraged to take an active role in Kent’s academic community.

Undergraduate and foundation programmes

If you are from the UK or Ireland, you should apply through UCAS. If you are an international student you may choose to apply through UCAS or directly on our website. 

Postgraduate programmes

Applications for postgraduate taught programmes are made via Kent’s Graduate website.

Research degree programmes

If you would like to pursue a PhD at Kent, you should visit the relevant department website and the find a supervisor page to identify potential supervisors for your research and thesis. You are encouraged to then make direct contact with the appropriate academic to discuss your research proposal.

The University has three PhD entry dates during the academic year: September, January and May. Entry to a Master’s by Research is in September only.

Short-term study at Kent

Kent’s short-term programmes allow international students to spend a year or a semester at Kent. These programmes offer students from different educational systems the opportunity to study and gain academic credit from a leading British university. Choose from a range of programmes to suit your academic ability, level of proficiency in English and the amount of time you would like to spend abroad.

Accommodation

New first-year students who select Kent as their first choice are guaranteed a place in University accommodation. At the Canterbury campus, most rooms are en suite and many offer catering options, while all postgraduate rooms are en suite and self-catered. Rooms are available in flats, shared houses and traditional college arrangements.

At Medway, rooms are available at Pier Quays, a short walk from the campus; they are all en suite and arranged in flats of five to eight people. Pier Quays is managed by Unite Students, separate from the University, and shared with students from Canterbury Christ Church and Greenwich universities. 

At both Canterbury and Medway, student union advice centres provide help and guidance for students who choose to live off campus.
