The economy is increasingly complex and everchanging. Employers want problem-solvers who think clearly, learn fast and explain their ideas well. An Economics degree at Kent prepares you for this. Each year, you'll build new skills and grow your knowledge, until you can “speak economics” and use your insight to solve real-world problems. You can even sharpen these skills with the option for a Year Abroad or a Year in Industry.
This course shapes itself around your ambitions. You'll learn in a close-knit campus with one-to-one support from expert lecturers and researchers. You can also get real-world experience with a year in industry. As you progress, you'll choose topics that interest you - like financial markets, the environment, the economics of development. You can follow your passion deeper in a specific area, perhaps developing your technical skills, or explore a broad range of ideas.
Economics explores big and wide-ranging questions. How can we fight climate change? What causes financial crises? Why is there inequality These will provide the material and context for you to learn core economic principles; how to break up large problems into manageable parts, and how and why individual actions can shape the economy and impact everyone.
If you want to build a strong career and better understand the world around you, this course gives you the tools.
