Course overview
This course provides you with a broad understanding of business and management.
In the first and second year, you study a core set of topics. These give you knowledge in the key areas of * finance * human resources * international business * marketing * operations management * business environment.
After you have experience in these areas, you can tailor your degree to meet your interests and career needs. You can choose from 20 modules. This allows you to study subjects that you enjoy and perform well in, so you reach your potential.
You develop key skills and knowledge including the ability to
analyse business issues
present your opinions and make recommendations
work independently and as part of a team
manage people and projects
The course equips you to succeed in the business world, and gives you the confidence and qualities that employers want.
In year three, you can take a valuable one year paid work placement. We help you find a suitable placement and support you while you are there. This improves your industry knowledge, skills and employability.
Companies offering placements have recently included * Siemens * Aston Martin Lagonda * Hewlett Packard * NHS * Exxon Mobil * Ministry of Defence.
You may be able to spend part of your second year studying abroad in a country such as Australia, Canada or the USA.
If you do not complete a placement, you learn from other employment experiences in the work-based learning module.
Our tutors have much experience in business management research and practice. This makes our courses current and relevant to today’s workplace.
We are one of the few universities to have set up a Chartered Institute of Marketing Student Chapter. This is a student learning community that complements and enhances academic learning and professional development in the area of marketing.
