Course overview

Engineering systems are complex and require careful management and control to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.

You'll learn about classical and advanced control systems concepts, and how to design, test and commission instrument and control systems. You'll work on large-scale case studies and use engineering software packages to model and simulate processes, design and implement appropriate control systems, and evaluate the performance of those systems. You'll also learn how to identify suitable performance indicators to ensure the efficiency and safety of engineering systems.

Develop the use and application of computing technologies in the operation of modern industrial plants, manufacturing processes and material processing industries, with a focus on computer-based measurement and control. You'll understand how to design, commission and test complex industrial control systems and have the opportunity to design, commission and test small-scale systems involving programming, networking and interfacing to instruments.
