Who is the BSc Marketing Management (Industry) year 2 entry course for?

Application to the year 2 entry BSc Marketing Management (Industry) degree programme is primarily for students from institutions with an appropriate partnership agreement. Under these agreements, the equivalent of Year 1 will be studied at one of our partner universities.

It also provides students on Lancaster University's BSc Business Management or BSc International Management degrees with the opportunity to switch to a marketing programme after their first year.

For other students who have completed the equivalent of Year 1 at university and wish to transfer their degree to Lancaster, eligibility will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Open doors with your industry experience

On this course, you spend your third year on placement in industry, giving you the chance to gain work experience and become more employable. Research shows that students who complete work placements are employed more quickly when they graduate than students who don't go on placement. Entry requirements

These are the typical grades that you will need to study this course. This section will tell you whether you need qualifications in specific subjects, what our English language requirements are, and if there are any extra requirements such as attending an interview or submitting a portfolio.

Students studying at one of our partner institutions

If you are studying on an approved curriculum at one of our partner institutions, we will advise you separately of the entry requirements specific to your particular programme. In each case, we have benchmarked these to be the equivalent to 2:1 in Year 1 at Lancaster.

NCUK/INTO International Year One

We accept the following programmes for entry to BSc Marketing Management (Industry):

  • NCUK International Year One Business Management
    You will need to achieve a 60% progression grade, with sufficient marketing content, plus NCUK EAP at B overall with at least D in each component
  • INTO Manchester International Year One International Business, Accounting and Finance
    You will need to achieve a 60% progression grade, with sufficient marketing content, plus INTO EAP at 60% overall with at least 40% in each component
  • INTO London International Year One Business
    You will need to achieve a 60% progression grade, with sufficient marketing content, plus INTO EAP at 60% overall with at least 40% in each component

Other students

We will consider other students on a case-by-case basis. We will require the following:

  • Information on your pre-degree or high school qualifications. We would typically expect you to have achieved grades ABB at A level, or an equivalent qualification, and GCSE English Language grade B/5, or an equivalent qualification.
  • For non-native speakers of English, we require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component. For other English language qualifications we accept, please see English language requirements.
  • Information on your current or previous undergraduate study, including a list of all the modules you have completed and are yet to complete. We will need to check if you have covered sufficient academic material equivalent to the content of Year 1 of the degree at Lancaster University. We expect applicants to pass the current year of their undergraduate study (or equivalent) with the equivalent of 2:1 (upper second-class honours marks).
  • We require a reference from someone who has taught you as part of your undergraduate studies.
