The oldest and largest University in Wroclaw and the Lower Silesia region, it boasts more than 300 years of academic tradition and prestige. Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, the University has been associated with hundreds of globally renowned scientists and alumni, including ten Nobel Prize winners. Today, the University is also home to the Academic Research Centre Olga Tokarczuk Ex-centre where you can even encounter the Nobel Prize-winning author and honorary doctorate recipient.

The University offers modern infrastructure and excellent research facilities, including the Lower Silesian Incubator of Entrepreneurship of Wroclaw Technology Park, which connect academia with cutting-edge technology and business. In a city that never sleeps

A student’s life isn’t just about studying. Festivals, concerts, performances, outdoor cinemas, and hundreds of cultural and sports events take place in clubs, theatres, cafés, and even on the riverside beaches of the Oder River. The motto of Wroclaw – European Capital of Culture 2016 – is “the meeting place.” It’s a city where generations, cultures, and above all, people come together. The city is alive 24 hours a day, and in its centre, on one of the largest and most beautiful market squares in Poland, you can hear every language in the world. Around 200,000 foreigners live in Wroclaw, most of them young people studying at various universities and working in international companies. You’ll feel at home

If you choose us – like the hundreds of students from all over the world who come every year (many through exchange programs such as Erasmus, ISEP, Study Abroad) – the University of Wroclaw will organise a Welcome Ceremony, Orientation Days, and Pick-up service for you. You’ll live in a student dormitory, and if you’d like to learn the basics of the Polish language and culture, we’ll offer you Polish Language Course.

We also offer English language courses at various levels.

The University of Wroclaw is a springboard to your career. Many of our graduates work for the European Union, the United Nations, global corporations, tech companies, and leading research centres. Among our alumni are celebrated artists – directors, musicians, visual artists – who lead major cultural institutions and businesses across Poland and Europe. We also count among our former students politicians, including several current and former ministers, and even prime ministers.

The University has strong ties with employers – our Career Office helps arrange internships, placements, and job offers and supports networking. We also offer the possibility of continuing your studies at the doctoral level.

But beware – many of our graduates fall in love with Wroclaw (literally and figuratively). And after graduation, they often return here – or stay for good.
