Tampere University actions towards students’ employability
We at Tampere University want to support our students in shaping their own study and work path already from the beginning of their studies. The measures have proven effective, as Tampere University ranks highest among universities in career tracking surveys for graduate employment rates in Finland. These are the steps we at Tampere University take to enhance our students’ employability:
Study and Stay
Study & stay is Tampere University’s programme of activities and services for all our international degree students. The aim of the programme is to support international students to study, live and work or start a business in the Tampere Area.
Study & Stay at Tampere University is integrated in the orientation course. After that there will be a Study & Stay session every semester, coordinated by Tampere University Career Services. This means that right from the beginning of their studies, our students receive support in integrating into the Finnish career environment.
Thesis Fair
Thesis Fair is a free networking event for Tampere University international Master’s students and companies looking to hire thesis workers or to network with international students. The event is organized annually in the autumn semester.
For many international students, Master’s thesis is the gateway to Finnish working life. International students who do their thesis in cooperation with a company or research organisation are more likely to stay working in Finland after graduation. Thesis Fair offers students the chance to meet employers and discuss their ideas for thesis work, or just to get to know the employers and discuss recruitment and the Finnish working life.

International Talents’ Mentoring programme
The International Talents’ Mentoring Programme connects professionals working in Finland with international degree students from Tampere University who are looking to stay in Finland after their studies and start their careers here.
The International Talents’ Mentoring Programme aims to introduce mentees to the nuances of Finnish work culture, help them expand their professional networks, improve the mentees’ job-hunting skills and enable them to share their international experiences with the mentors.
