About Sustainable Business, MSc - at University of Winchester
Sustainable Development is specially designed for students who aim to embark on a career in management. Managers in the twenty-first century need to develop knowledge and understanding of sustainability and sustainable development in order to play an active and effective role in shaping future business practices and leading and managing change. Programme Content Responsible management is a running theme and it incorporates the issues of value creation, ethics, environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility, employee wellbeing and global impact. The need to prepare students for likely changes in working and employment practices in the twenty-first century is a key aspect of the programme’s philosophy and content. An innovative feature is that the modules are developed and delivered by a range of academics across an international partnership of academic institutions representing all five continents. Students are encouraged to engage with academic literature, case studies and each other by reflecting on their own managerial and business experiences. Modules Principles of Responsible Management Managing and Leading Change Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility Business Etiquette: Theory and Practice Sustainable Consumption and Production Climate Change and Energy Natural Resource Protection and Environmental Enhancement Sustainable Communities Research Methods Dissertation Learning and Teaching All modules develop an independent learning culture and provide a challenging experience for students achieved through the integration of theory and practice with students expected to capitalise on their current and/or prior experience. The programme makes extensive use of online collaborative teaching tools to supplement and support classroom based interactions. A focus of the programme is the development of students’ capacity to apply skills to solve real-life problems in business. Assessment The programme structure allows for innovative assessment practice and the inclusive assessment strategy deploys a variety of methods in order to improve the quality of learning and give students a greater opportunity to demonstrate their true potential.Entry requirements for this course
