Course Overview

This course will look at the waste hierarchy and its application to the organization, methods of identifying material waste, diagnosis of root causes and preventative methods, the concept of a 'circular economy' and opportunities for utilising another industry's waste as a raw input material. It will also review European, UK and Welsh government legislative requirements and sector specific waste strategy practices.

Assessment

A written assignment of 2500 words or equivalent, comprising a waste audit to identify where waste is occurring within your organization, and an implementation plan based on your findings.

Further Information

You will be required to attend two half-day teaching sessions at the Carmarthen Campus. These days will provide you with a secure foundation for your study. Throughout this module you will be supported by a Tutor. This support can either be face-to-face, via telephone, email or Skype - or a mix of all these. You will be required to complete the module within three months of the induction.

This module can be funded through ESF for eligible participants.
