Course Overview

This module will cover:

• Overview of the International Financial Reporting Standards and the requirements expected of companies in the UK
• Methods used to produce the financial statements
• Formulas used to interpret the financial statements in comparison to previous years, competitors and industry standards

Ethical and legal implications in producing financial statements

Key Features

This module is aimed at people who are not qualified accountants but would like to gain an understanding of financial statements of private limited companies and public limited companies

Assessment

Assignment 1

A written assignment discussing a range of IAS or IFRS's in relation to the workplace

Producing a Comprehensive Statement of Income, Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Changes in Equity

Assignment 2

A calculation of appropriate ratios and interpretation of the company's performance

Further Information

You will be required to attend two teaching days at the Carmarthen campus. These days will provide you with a secure foundation to begin your study. Through-out this module you will be supported by a Tutor. This support can either be face-to-face, via telephone, e-mail or Skype - or a mix of all these.
