About Civil Engineering (BSc), BSc - at University of Twente
Civil engineers design, construct and manage infrastructure and major building projects. Our English-taught Civil Engineering programme combines technology with the organizational side of these types of projects.
What is Civil Engineering?
Civil engineers are involved both in engineering and in the organization of engineering projects. They are experts who combine technical know-how with 'soft skills', such as communication, project management and process management.
The Bachelor's programme in Civil Engineering will teach you about all these aspects. Our programme focuses on three core themes: construction, traffic and water.
Construction, transport and water
In learning about construction, you will study the functional design of structures and the management of the construction process.
Transport is about the combination of infrastructure, mobility and sustainable transport systems.
Studying water and water management involves disciplines such as fluid mechanics and dynamics, and areas like water and coastal management, reservoirs, water flows and flood protection.
Civil Engineering at the University of Twente features a distinctive project-led teaching method, in which you tackle real-world projects in student teams. The programme has a low student-teacher ratio. Every year we start with 75 to 100 first year students.
