Course overview

USQ's Graduate Diploma of Spatial Science Technology (Geographic Information Systems) is ideal if you have a three or four year bachelor degree in a field other than engineering and you want to extend your knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). You don't even need work experience to commence your postgraduate studies in this degree.

Through this eight unit degree, you have the option to select from a range of courses (subjects), including web-based geographic information systems, land studies and photogrammetry and remote sensing.

Further study

When you complete your Graduate Diploma of Spatial Science Technology you could take the credit from your studies and go on to complete the Master of Spatial Science Technology where you will have the opportunity to do a research project and dissertation to apply your formal knowledge to a real world issue. If you are considering continuing onto a Master degree, your choice of courses may have an impact later. It is best to have a chat to our Student Relationship Officers before finalising your decision on courses.

Professional accreditation

The Graduate Diploma of Spatial Science Technology is not accredited by any professional bodies other than the University of Southern Queensland.

Career outcomes

As a GIS graduate, you could work in GIS, spatial information analysis, planning, mapping and spatial data management. You could support practising professionals and make a difference in the future of GIS.
