This combined degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Information Technology will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to design, develop and implement both the hardware and software components of computer systems in today's technological world. This combined degree will also help you to build your professional career in less time than if you were to complete two separate degrees. During this combined degree, you will develop and expand your skills through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience to help you become successful in whichever pathway you choose.

Throughout this degree you will explore many different areas of both Engineering and Information Technology so you can graduate with an expanse of knowledge to help you progress through your professional career.

Career outcomes

As a graduate of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Information Technology you can expect a career as a computer programmer, software/hardware engineer, computer scientist, systems designer and computer systems officer.

Some of the biggest employers of ICT graduates in Australia are international IT vendors, including Microsoft and IBM, and ICT end-users such as banks and government departments.

Professional accreditation

A graduate of this program is eligible to apply for membership of Engineers Australia as a graduate Engineer. After further professional development, a graduate member with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) may apply for chartered status as a Professional Engineer and, when granted, may use the post-nominal MIEAust CPEng.

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program is accredited by Engineers Australia and, through an agreement reached between the professional engineering bodies of other countries (the Washington Accord), is also recognised in the United Kingdom, the Unites States of America, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Africa.

The Bachelor of Information Technology program is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society and through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries.
