Course overview
USQ's Graduate Diploma of Education (Applied Linguistics) is ideal if you work with second language speakers and their communities, or in the fields of speech therapy and pathology, allied health, psychology or training in a variety of settings that requires skills in communication management and cross-cultural interaction.
Through this eight unit-degree, you will explore issues relating to learning in second language contexts as well as computer-assisted language learning.
Flexible study
After you complete the Graduate Diploma of Education, you will have the option to take the credit from your studies and go on to complete the Master of Education.
If you're not quite ready to undertake a Graduate Diploma or don't meet the entry requirements, you may like to start with USQ's Graduate Certificate of Education, before going on to study the Graduate Diploma.
Career outcomes
Applied linguistics is a useful complement to a range of intercultural learning and language development professions. New employment opportunities abroad are available in companies that employ graduates with problem-solving and analytical skills in international relations with second language users in the workplace.
There is also demand among administrators and teachers in classrooms, in Indigenous communities and the education and health sectors.
