Course overview

USQ Master of Psychology (Clinical) provides advanced training in psychological assessment and clinical intervention. This degree offers much of the coursework component in three two-day workshops, for each course, spread over the semester. With a focus on rural clinical health, this degree has been developed to meet the needs of Psychologists wishing to specialise in Clinical Psychology, whilst forging a pathway to the Master of Psychology/PhD (Clinical Psychology).

Master vs Doctor?

Confused about the difference between a Masters and Doctoral degree in clinical psychology? Well, there is the obvious time difference (2 years vs 3 years), providing more time for practical placements. Students completing the Doctor also complete a dissertation and have the capacity to undertake independent, critical research and practice. Not sure which path to take? Keep in mind that students can articulate from the Masters to the Doctoral program.

Career outcomes

A lot of students who study psychology use it as a stepping stone to other careers, but graduates of this degree can work as a Clinical Psychologist.

Professional accreditation

Are you looking to achieve professional registration and full membership with the Australian Psychological Society (APS)? Graduates of the Master of Psychology (Clinical) can apply for registration as a Psychologist and/or Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and APS after a period of supervised practice.
