Course overview

Whilst you study at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), you will develop expert knowledge and understanding of sound, vibration and signal processing.

You can choose your modules to cover a broad range of topics in acoustical and vibration engineering or specialise further in a topic.

Topics include engineering acoustics, vibrations in structures, applied signal processing, control of sound and vibration, underwater acoustics, biomedical applications, machine learning, building acoustics, electroacoustics, and human effects of sound and vibration.

You'll work on a wide range of real-world applications during your MSc, and you'll graduate with the skills needed for a career in acoustical engineering or for continued study at PhD level. Acoustical engineers are in high demand. Previous students now work in industry and consultancy covering roles in noise control, building acoustics, audio engineering and much more.

You can study this master's degree without prior knowledge of acoustics or vibration.
