About Metaphysics, Language and Mind, MA - at University of Liverpool

This programme offers students the opportunity to study philosophy within the analytic tradition, specifically in relation to themes in metaphysics, language and mind.

As well as being a rewarding final degree for those with an interest in contemporary analytic philosophy, it is an ideal preparation for research in philosophy, providing as it does a solid grounding in the predominant Anglo- American approach to the discipline.

This 12-month programme consists of a number of one-semester taught modules, including the two core modules Wittgenstein in the first semester, and the main seminar module Themes in Analytic Philosophy in the second; there is also a two semester research skills module (which includes such transferable skills as logic/reasoning and presentation of papers), and a supervised dissertation over the summer. Students take four elective modules over the first and second semesters.
