Course overview
Master of Dental Surgery in Implant Dentistry [MDS(ImplantDent)] is designed for dentists who want to reach specialist-level competence in implant dentistry. On completion of the programme graduates have the skills and competences to independently undertake the planning and execution of advanced, complex patient treatments involving dental implants. The programme has solid, broad academic coverage, including the biological basis as well as the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry.
Theoretical knowledge and clinical competence are acquired through a wide array of teaching methods, including supervised clinical work, prescribed coursework, clinical seminars, research seminars and case-based learning. The programme includes training in clinical or laboratory research related to implant dentistry, and a supervised research project.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the courses leading to a taught postgraduate qualification, a candidate:
a) shall comply with the General Regulations;
b) shall hold a Bachelor's degree of this University or a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose;
c) shall satisfy any other admission requirements which may be prescribed from time to time for the relevant curriculum; and
d) for a candidate who is seeking admission on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not English, shall satisfy the University English language requirement applicable to high degrees as prescribed under General Regulation G2(b).
An application for exemption from the above requirements shall be considered on a case by case basis.
