About Law, LLB (Hons) - at University of Greenwich
The LLB Hons Law programme is a three-yearQualifying Law Degree - successful completion of the degree will allowgraduates to go on to undertake the further training required in order toqualify to practise, in England and Wales, as a solicitor or a barrister.
In addition to the core knowledge required for aQualifying Law Degree, you will have the opportunityto study a wide range of specialist courses. The programme will equip you withpractical transferable skills that will prepare you for future employment in arange of working environments.
You will benefit from presentations from guestspeakers and networking events with employers, professional bodies and alumnithat will help you with your career planning. You will also have access toworkshops and events designed to assist you with your CV and job applicationsand in developing a professional digital presence.
The School of Law has good links with a number ofemployers in London, including law firms, barristers' chambers and financialinstitutions. Opportunities may be available for LLB Hons Law students to applyfor selection for placements, internships and mentoring schemes with a varietyof employers in the legal and regulatory sectors.
LLB Hons Law students are also able to apply to beselected to undertake pro bono work through various schemes run by the school.These include our Legal Advice Centre, winner of a 2015 LawWorks & AttorneyGeneral Student Pro Bono Award for its 'tremendous impact on the community'.The centre enables the students selected to work closely with volunteer lawyersand the centre's senior supervising solicitor to provide advice to the public.
The Innocence Project London is also run from theSchool of Law. Currently one of only ten international projects accepted asmembers of the US-based Innocence Network, and the only UK member, the projectenables our students to apply to be selected to work on real cases concerningmiscarriages of justice. This important work can lead to the submission ofappeal applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
The school has a tradition of extracurricularactivities, including a student-run Law Society. LLB students can apply to beselected for our client interviewing or our mooting team in order to furthertheir skills and experience. Mooting is arguing a hypothetical case in a courtsetting. Our LLB Hons Law students were finalists in the OUP and BPP NationalMooting Competition 2014–15. Employability and extra-curricular opportunities listed may involve an application and selection process.

The National Student Survey results reflect the innovation and dedication of our teaching team. Our system ofpastoral care has been carefully devised. Every student has his or her ownpersonal tutor. Before arriving at the university, you will be allocated atutor, with whom you will stay in close contact, particularly in the earlyweeks of term. Under our Law Parent Scheme, every first-year law student willalso be allocated a peer mentor, who will be a second- or third-year lawstudent.

Our LLB degrees are all Qualifying Law Degrees under the current regime, and we intend to react in a timely manner to any changes.
