Course overview

The MSc programme in Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences of the Department of Biological Sciences aims at providing students with high quality education of international standing, so that that they can develop a deep understanding of their science and versatile thinking, something critical for their professional career in the modern environment. The programme entails theoretical, statistics and computational biology coursework and practicals, as well as a literature-based or laboratory-based dissertation. Graduates may continue their studies in postgraduate programmes in Cyprus or abroad, or find employment in education, clinical and diagnostic labs, the pharmaceutical industry, biomedical research, the biotechnology sector and similar.

The Master Programme in Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences has a minimum duration of 3 semesters and a maximum duration of 8 semesters. Students may be admitted to the program in both the Fall and Spring semester. For the completion of the programme, 90 ECTS are required.


Entry requirements

The number of places available are announced by the Graduate School with the eligibility criteria for candidates, as well as other required documents that must be attached to the application such as:

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognised University.
  • Previous University education in a suitable subject (academic background) and grades of relevant degrees.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Personal interview and/or written examination (if provided by the Department's internal rules).

The Department may also set additional criteria and quality indicators such as: (a) number of students' publications in scientific journals, (b) students' participation in seminars, symposia, research programmes, (c) presentations by students at conferences, (d) knowledge of foreign languages, and (e) professional experience, etc.
