About Structural Metallic Systems for Gas Turbine Applications, PhD - at University of Birmingham
Postgraduate course - PhD with Integrated Studies Structural Metallic Systems for Gas Turbine Applications: Materials underpin almost all industrial sectors and the global challenges have increased the demand for materials engineers and researchers. The School of Metallurgy and Materials has long been a centre of excellence in materials research and education.
This EPSRC-sponsored doctoral training programme focuses on research into structural metallic systems for gas turbine applications, covering alloy and process development, cost-reduction, life cycle analysis and environmental degradation.
This PhD with integrated studies programme, suitable both for full-time students and seconded employees, combines 12 taught modules (120 credits) in Advanced Metallurgy/Materials, Materials Processing and Professional Development and a major research project carried in a broad range of topics related to metallic materials used in gas turbines. Students are normally based in the University and research projects can be carried out in the School or in industry.
