Course overview

The BSc Health Psychology course is one of only two in the country that deals with the impact of psychology on the motivations, thoughts and feelings underpinning human health related behaviours.

This specialised, British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited degree focuses on how we can apply the knowledge of psychology to enable us to promote healthier lifestyles e.g. by losing weight and stopping smoking by exploring ways in which we can facilitate positive health behaviour change.

Through understanding the application of health psychology you will also gain skills that can be applied to improving the healthcare system and supporting people to manage chronic health and illness.

With a core focus on health psychology this degree also combines core areas of psychology (clinical, social, counselling and biological) with exploration of research into issues such as eating disorders, pain and stress management.
