Course overview

This is a three years full-time course and it provides extensive coverage of the technological and managerial aspects of the Automotive Maintenance. The course covers the requirements of the SKM level 1 to level 4. It puts emphasis on work of a practical nature to competence and confidence through active participation in the technological aspects of the automotive industry. The programme is also designed to give students the necessary academic and technical background to continue their studies should they wish to pursue the degree programme.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • PEO 1
    To produce engineering technicians who analyze and apply the knowledge, understanding and workshop skills in automotive maintenance technology to provide quality products and services to government agencies and engineering relates industries.
  • PEO 2
    To produce engineering technicians who lead and engage in teams in problem solving tasks across disciplines through effective communicative abilities.
  • PEO 3
    To produce engineering technicians who continue to advance their knowledge and abilities by embarking on business and technopreneurial opportunities in the engineering related industries.
  • PEO 4
    To produce engineering technicians who demonstrate ethical and professional values of Leadership and Team skills in providing services to the recipients and provider of the engineering-related industries.
  • PEO 5
    To produce engineering technicians who are capable to identify on seizing business and technopreneurial opportunities in providing services.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Majors in Automotive Maintenance will be able to:

  • PLO 1
    Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization principles to well-defined practical procedures and practices.
  • PLO 2
    Analyze well-defined engineering problems in Automotive engineering or area of specialization.
  • PLO 3
    Formulate solutions to well-defined technical problems related to Automotive Engineering.
  • PLO 4
    Assist in the formulation of the automotive systems, related components or processes to meet specified needs.
  • PLO 5
    Conduct investigations of well-defined automotive system problems.
  • PLO 6
    Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and engineering tools to well-defined automotive engineering activities, with an awareness of their limitations.
  • PLO 7
    Demonstrate an awareness of and consideration for societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and their consequent responsibilities.
  • PLO 8
    Communicate effectively with the engineering community and society at large.

    Function effectively in a diverse technical team.

    Demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering technology practices.
