The Student Finance service provides student loans to help pay for tuition fees and the cost of living, depending on your circumstances.
You'll be charged interest on your loan as soon as you take it out, but you only start repayments once you earn more than a certain amount - currently £21,000.
Repayments are based on how much you earn, not how much you've borrowed.
Course overview
The Certificate of International Foundation Studies is a pre-degree access foundation year programme for all subjects which helps you, as an international student, to develop:
Advanced English language skills (both general and subject specific English) higher level study skills
Subject related knowledge
You will:
Be taught by language and subject specialists
Develop academic level English language skills
Receive dedicated pastoral support in choosing your career path
This course is designed for students who do not have the necessary qualifications for registration directly onto a degree course. This additional programme of study enables you to communicate and study effectively at undergraduate level.
Unlike many foundation year courses, success completion of this programme will give you the opportunity to progress onto a wide range of undergraduate degrees across all subject areas of the University, from courses in health and nursing, computer science, media and engineering to social sciences, and business and law. The programme leaders will work with you so you fully understand the route you will take to complete your undergraduate degree.
