Course overview
This course develops a range of general but important business skills. It also develops specific skills related to the finance and treasury functions of business.
You gain knowledge of finance and financial management and an understanding of business management. These are vital for senior level managers. You learn analytical financial skills and how to apply them to business. You also develop the people skills needed to become a successful manager.
There are many significant links in business, such as between finance and marketing or finance and business operations. This course allows you to develop an understanding of these links, which will be of great benefit to your working life.
You may be able to spend part of your second year studying abroad in a country such as Australia, Canada or the USA.
In year three, you can take a valuable one year paid work placement, giving you a real advantage in the job market. We help you find a suitable placement and support you while you are there.
If you do not complete a placement, you learn from other work-related experiences in the work-based learning module.
Recent placement employers include * Bank of New York * Renault UK * Close Credit Management * GE Commercial Finance * Hays Accountancy and Finance * HSBC * Corus Engineering Steels.
The placement enables you to understand the connections between business and financial management, and you carry this forward to your final year studies. It also helps you to decide your career path.
Our business and finance courses share some common first year modules. This means you can move to a less specialised degree at the end of the first year, if you decide it better suits your career ambitions.
