About Games Software Development, PG Dip - at Sheffield Hallam University

The video games industry has a multi-billion-pound turnover and includes areas such as computer games, interactive TV and mobile communication devices. The demand is high for skilled designers with a good business approach to develop innovative applications in these areas. This Masters course in Entertainment Software Development, created in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, is the first of its kind available in the UK, and has been tailored to meet industry needs with a focus on developing advanced design and entrepreneurial skills. It will appeal particularly to those wishing to enter the games industry or to those existing industry employees who wish to increase their potential by gaining a relevant qualification. The course is delivered in a practical setting with a flexible timetable to minimise career disruption and maximise learning opportunities. You will be given the opportunity to work on large-scale joint projects, typically alongside commercial partners, in a practical learning environment. Working on specialist hardware architectures, designing graphics and animations, employing software engineering principles and cultivating entrepreneurial skills, you will be equipped to meet the growing demands of today’s employers.
