Course overview
We designed this course for people who already have an appropriate HND or foundation degree in an IT or computing-related area. You can use this course to gain an honours degree through one year of full-time study.
The course develops the knowledge and skills that you have already gained and expands on a range of computing themes. You develop your technical IT skills and your awareness of professional issues, and the interpersonal skills you need to become an effective computing professional.
The focus of this course is advanced IT networks, design and management. The year involves a dissertation and you gain practical experience in a range of subjects.
Lectures and practical sessions take place at our City Campus and you have the use of specialist computing laboratories as well as the resources available in the Adsetts Learning Centrehttp://www.shu.ac.uk/services/lits/libraries.
If you have successfully completed our FdSc Network Technologieshttp://prospectus.shu.ac.uk/CourseEntry.cfm?CourseId=716, or similar HND/FdSc, you may be able to progress to this degree.
This course focuses on remote access, wireless networking and approaches to networking.
