Course overview

This practical and vocational course explores developing interactive digital media applications using 2D and 3D computer animation techniques. These applications are used in * information presentations * e-learning material * websites * computer games development. The course also builds your understanding of communications and the media. Several main themes run through each year including * employability and professionalism * programming concepts * communication theory * graphics and animation * multimedia technologies. You gain knowledge and skills in communications computer animation interaction and systems development virtual reality visual communication web-based design and development special effects You also improve your numerical and analytical skills to help your studies. Optional modules let you tailor the degree to your interests, and you can study topics ranging from games programming to human-computer interaction or e-business. Our first class resources include graphics and visualisation computer labs. We also provide advanced hardware and software set-ups. You learn through hands on experience using modern tools such as Flash, 3D Studio Max and PhotoShop. As well as technical knowledge and skills, this course gives you wide practical experience to aid your development and improve your employability. In year three, you can take a paid one year work placement. This gives you knowledge of the industry and develops your personal and professional abilities, boosting your employment prospects. The final year includes a major individual project and digital case studies, so you can apply your learning to real life examples.
