Course overview
The hospitality industry is competitive, fast growing and international. It covers everything from * deluxe hotels * restaurants * designer bars * catering contractors * specialist catering for sporting and other events, to * budget hotels * public houses * nightclubs.
Hospitality business management forms the core of the course, with optional modules in European culinary arts and wines or small hospitality and tourism business management. This allows you to choose the subject most suited to your career path.
Projects, based on live and simulated scenarios in hospitality management, are an important course feature.
In the first year you study

An optional one year work placement, after your first year, improves your academic performance, understanding of business environments and job opportunities. This can be in the UK or abroad. It often leads to a higher salary after you graduate. Our placement officer helps you to find a suitable placement.
Past students have worked at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Thistle Hotel in Marble Arch and the Clarion Resort in Ocean City.
In the final year you broaden your understanding of hospitality business management. You gain a deeper understanding of

human resource management
management principles and techniques applicable to a range of fields and organisations in the hospitality industry
