Course overview
This course gives you knowledge and understanding of the economic aspects of business and the business environment.
It prepares you for a career in private and public organisations, in business development or business analysis. It also supports management careers in functional areas of business, such as finance or marketing.
The course provides you with the conceptual and analytical skills to understand business behaviour and business decision making.
Important themes include * the changing economic environment * globalisation * business strategy * industry analysis * business decision making * business performance * government policy and its impact on business.
You also develop practical knowledge and understanding in areas such as finance, business law and business computing.
You may be able to spend part of your second year studying abroad in a country such as * Australia * France * Germany * Italy * Spain * the USA.
You normally spend year three on work placement in areas such as * business development * business analysis * finance * marketing. This gives a practical insight into the real working life of a business organisation and improves your employability.
If you do not take a work placement, you gain valuable work experience through the work-based learning module.
In your final year, you make an in depth study of a topic of your choice.
