Course overview

As a MI Audio Engineering student, you'll learn how to function in today's professional audio production environments - recording studios, venues, post production houses and/or film houses. Not only will you be taught by industry experienced instructors, you'll gain practical experience on professional-level consoles and recording equipment. It's in MI's world class studios where you'll be working with artists, mic'ing up session players, and doing final mixes. Altogether, you'll be developing sophisticated technical and organizational skills that are vital to today's successful engineers.

In MI's Audio Engineering Program, Students:

  • Manage the entire audio production process from pre-production and tracking to mixing and mastering.
  • Take foundational classes in Critical Listening, Musicianship, and Mac Basics and Gear Set-up.
  • Learn fundamentals of the Music Business in The Business of Audio.
  • Learn ProTools from an Avid Certified Instructor, or Logic from a Logic Certified Instructor.
  • Have the ability to take the ProTools certification exams or Logic certification exam.
  • Have access to the extensive live sound curriculum with the ability to engineer in-house concerts.
  • Gain industry ready post-production skills such as field recording, film mixing, editing, and ADR.

The Audio Engineering Program Includes:

Track, overdub and mix in one of MI's professionally built recording studios or Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) labs.
