About Business Engineering, MSc - at KU Leuven
A business engineer is an interdisciplinary manager who guides companies from a quantitative and managerial point of view. To this end, managerial and analytical skills are combined with a profound understanding of how business and (technological) innovation processes work.
What is the programme all about?
The Master of Business Engineering prepares you to be a interdisciplinary manager with an extended problem solving toolbox and a holistic view on modern companies in today’s economic, legal and social context.
With a capacity for analytical thought, management and communication skills and an eye for sustainable opportunities, you will be able to shape the future of companies and organisations.
Structure
The Master of Business Engineering contains a number of required courses and a major and a minor of your choice. These allow you to deepen your knowledge in specific business domains. The Master’s Thesis is most often written in the domain of the chosen major, but you can also select a topic in the domain of Data Science and Business Analytics.
Majors offered include Accounting and Financial Management, Risk and Finance, Marketing, Production and Logistics, Data Science and Business Analytics, Industry, Global Value Chains and New Technologies, Technology and Entrepreneurship.
Strengths
- A substantial variety of choice in majors and minors allows you to create your own profile in line with your disciplinary future self. In addition, you can add a project or internship into your curriculum.
- Boasting a variety of skills, business engineers are much sought-after by a wide range of companies for various positions and sectors. Because of their broad background in business and the function of (technological) innovation processes, graduates tend to easily find a job. They can also refer to the Career Corner, the faculty’s integrated platform for internships and the labour market.
- International experience: We encourage you to study abroad at one of the faculty’s exclusive partner universities in the first semester of the second year, as part of the Erasmus+ programme. Increasingly, employers value young professionals who are familiar with doing business in a multicultural and multilingual setting. The faculty keeps up a strong international focus with a flourishing participation of students in summer schools and exchange programmes, making your experience truly international. More information on the various international experiences the faculty has to offer can be found on the website of the international office.
