Course overview

The BSc (Hons) Psychology at City encourages analytical and critical thinking while developing an understanding of the complex interactions between the human mind, brain, behaviour and experience.

You will be taught by internationally recognised research-active academics, who will provide a rich curriculum and give you a wide range of experiences and insights across the full range of topics in psychology. The staff will dedicate their time to your development in academic and professional skills and a personal tutor will mentor and support you in achieving your aspirations for the future. The degree will therefore serve as an ideal stepping stone towards your future, whether it be in further education or a professional career.

Find out more about our staff and their active research interests, which include areas such as Cognitive Neuroscience, Autism, Memory, Decision making and Behavioural Economics, Coaching Psychology, Child Development, Counselling and Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology and more.

In addition to dedicated research groupings and specialised laboratories for these main areas of research in the department, we are also home to three specialist Centres that provide a link between our research activities and professional practice and industry.

The degree is accredited by the BPS and comprises the first stage of qualifying as a Chartered Psychologist. It also provides the necessary first degree qualification for further education on BPS-accredited Masters and Doctoral level courses.
