Course overview
This course is for anyone looking to gain the qualifications required to apply for the SPD Marine Engineering or SPD Nautical Science Cadet programmes.
It will introduce you to a range of topics and provide a background into how the Industry is regulated and the functions of the business ashore and at sea.
This course is an ideal introduction if you want to:
- Work at sea as a Deck Officer.
- Work at sea as an Engineer Officer.
- Work in a ship management company.
- Work in port operations.
If you want to work at sea this course will allow you to choose between a Deck Officer and an Engineering Officer career path. Successful completion of this course does not mean you are qualified to work at sea as an Officer, but it does provide access onto the next stage of the training programme.
