Course overview

The PDA in Health and Social Care course at City of Glasgow College is designed for those who are involved, or who aspire to be involved in, supervising others in Health and Social Care and related settings.

The award recognises the wide contribution now made to care practice by a range of people in differing roles including domestic, administrative and ancillary staff. The course is designed to equip you with transferable skills and knowledge to provide supervision in a range of settings and contexts.

This part time option of study is particularly attractive to those already employed. The course combines theory and practice so that employees can apply the things they learn to benefit organisational practice. This serves to promote organisational commitments to best value with Health and Care services being subject to continuous improvements.

Finally and very importantly, the course prepares employees for further study opportunities that assist employees aspiring to jobs in management roles.

The course is designed to meet the needs of those who require to increase their qualifications to 15 credits at SCQF level 7 or above in order to meet these SSSC requirements. Previous candidates who have achieved an HNC and/or SVQ at 12 or fewer credits may be particularly interested in using this course and qualification to increase their qualifications.

It is also designed to provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for employees who are in a first line management role and provide supervision in a range of areas.

This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 7. For more information on the framework visit www.scqf.org.uk/the-framework/.
