Course overview
The course starts with a crash course in short fiction, with an initial focus on flash fiction horror writing, mysteries and thrillers. The course then shifts to journalism, with a focus on specialist writing and feature articles, covering topics like human interest, news background and review writing.
The third section of the course looks at professional research and interviewing skills, including social media strategies, and looks at market research techniques for self-publishing also.
The last section on web writing looks into new media trends, style and multimedia production, i.e. using slideshows, and scripting audio and video to add to text-based articles.
There is also an optional section on screenwriting, if there is enough demand for this then it could replace one of the other sections.
