Course overview
The Upgrade Program at BESIGN The Sustainable Design School is designed for students and young graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree in a field other than design who, driven by personal motivation, a change in academic or professional direction, or a clear career project, wish to transition into the design profession and pursue their academic path in design up to Master’slevel.
Conceived as a bridging program, the Upgrade Program enables students to fill gaps in design tools, methods, and design culture, while strengthening the essential foundations required to continue studies in design and sustainable innovation. It aims to develop a solid understanding of the design process, project methodologies, systems thinking, and contemporary environmental, social, and societal challenges.
Rooted in BESIGN’s pedagogy, the program is based on a hands-on, project-based approach, intensive workshops, and a progressive immersion into the world of sustainable design. Students are encouraged to explore major contemporary challenges, understand the role of the designer in the ecological transition, and develop their ability to design responsible, innovative, and human-centered solutions.
The program provides the essential foundations in design, creativity, project culture, and sustainability, while effectively preparing students for entry into the Master’s Degree in Design for Sustainable Innovation. It represents a key step in refining one’s professional project, gaining creative maturity, and meeting the academic standards expected at Master’s level.
Applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree in Design may apply directly to the Master’s program.
