Course overview

Combining Law with Creative Media writing in a Qualifying Law Degree enables you to develop a range of expertise and skills relevant to today’s digital publishing world. It encourages the development of key Creative Media skills that will be useful for careers in both the legal sector and the media industry. Students who wish to obtain a Creative Media Writing Skills degree will have the advantage of an interdisciplinary degree thanks to the Law element.

The Law side of the degree will focus on all of the main Qualifying Law Degree subjects, so that the degree will be recognised as a Qualifying Law Degree by the professional bodies in England & Wales: the Law Society and the Bar. The Creative Media Writing side of the degree will help you to develop an entirely complementary skills set through the study of topics such as screen writing, digital communication, publishing and the craft of storytelling. In addition, the interdisciplinary element of this degree offers excellent preparation for future professional exams for legal and allied professions, and in some cases, can lead to professional exemptions. The skills that you will pick up from your studies within the School of Creative Studies and Media will help you to develop your written communication skills, which will complement the communication of the written research work that you will undertake as part of your Law modules.
