Georgia Student Visa Guide

Georgia Student Visa Process and Fees for International Students

Non-EU/EEA students wishing to study in Georgia for a period longer than 90 days need to apply for a student visa. The process begins with securing admission to a Georgian university. Once you have your acceptance letter, you will need to demonstrate that you have sufficient financial means to support your stay in Georgia. Students are generally required to show they have access to at least $300 USD per month to cover living expenses, in addition to covering tuition fees.

To obtain a visa, you need to submit the application at the nearest Georgian embassy or consulate in your home country, providing the following documents:

  • A letter of acceptance from the Georgian educational institution confirming your enrollment in a full-time course
  • Proof of sufficient financial means to cover your tuition fees and living expenses for the duration of your stay
  • A valid health insurance policy for the duration of your stay
  • A criminal record certificate or another document of the same legal value
  • A valid passport and recent passport-sized photographs

The visa application fee for a Georgian student visa is around $20 USD. It’s important to apply well in advance of your intended start date, as visa processing times can vary.

Upon arrival in Georgia, students must apply for a residence permit at the Public Service Hall or a branch of the Public Service Development Agency. This permit is usually valid for one year and can be renewed annually.

Georgia Student Visa Work Regulations

Georgia allows international students to work part-time during their studies. Students with a valid residence permit are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week. This enables students to gain work experience, improve their language skills, and manage their personal expenses.

After completing their studies, graduates may seek opportunities to extend their stay in Georgia by finding employment or engaging in further education, subject to the country’s immigration policies at that time.
