Studying commerce abroad

What is commerce?

Commerce is the study of how goods, services, and finances move within an economy. It looks at the systems that connect producers, consumers, and governments, as well as the economic and legal factors that influence trade and business. The subject covers a wide range of topics including accounting, marketing, finance, business law, and management.

Commerce combines both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. As a commerce student, you will learn how businesses operate, how markets behave, and how financial decisions are made. You will also explore how technology and globalisation are shaping today’s business environment. Classes often include discussions, case studies, and group projects that reflect real-world challenges faced by organisations and entrepreneurs.

Why study commerce abroad?

Choosing to study commerce in another country allows you to see how different economies and business cultures work. You might study global trade in Singapore, marketing in the United States, or finance in the United Kingdom. Learning in an international setting helps you understand how commerce functions across borders and gives you a global perspective that employers value.

Studying abroad also helps you develop confidence in working with people from diverse backgrounds. You will improve your English and cross-cultural communication skills, gain exposure to international markets, and build professional connections that could help you in your career.
