Course overview
Mathematics: Graduate courses are offered in algebra, real analysis, complex analysis, numerical analysis, linear and nonlinear functional analysis, algebraic topology, combinatorics, differential geometry, ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, probability, statistics, mathematical finance. Advanced courses in these and related areas, leading to research topics, are also offered. The department encourages applicants wishing to pursue in the area of Algebra, Analysis and Operational Research.

Statistics: The group in probability and statistics does research in a broad spectrum of areas. Theoretical research and methodological research for substantive areas of application are carried out. Topics include probability, stochastic processes, queueing theory, multivariate analysis, symmetric functions in statistics, finite sampling, capture-recapture models, majorization and optimal designs, biostatistics, discrete data analysis, outliers, estimating equations, bioassay and robust statistics. The M.Sc. is designed as a two-year program.
