If English is not your first language: IELTS 6.5 (including 6.5 in academic writing) or a TOEFL score of 575 (paper-based) or 232 (computer-based) or equivalent
Programme Content
Students extend their study obtained from the Professional Development Programme of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) by undertaking a ‘Research Methods’ taught module and a dissertation on a human resource management topic of their choice. Upon successful completion, students are awarded the MSc Human Resource Management.
Modules
Modules include:
Research Methods aims to introduce and critically explore various research models, techniques and evaluation tools and give an overview of common statistical terms and an understanding of the relevant statistical tests to research data. It introduces some of the key philosophical debates in research methodology and epistemology, such that students will have a mature understanding of the role of both quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
Assessment
Methods of assessment include business reports, essays, presentations, examinations and group exercises.
Dissertation
The dissertation is worth 60 credits and must be completed in order for students to be awarded the Masters degree. It marks the culmination of the programme and requires independent study with tutor supervision. The dissertation can be on a topic of the student’s choice within the realms of human resource management.
