Course overview

Postgraduate Award in Working Therapeutically With Children and Young People

Designed for practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds, this course will be useful for youth workers, social workers and teachers as well as for counsellors and psychotherapists. The new 20 credit postgraduate award is in line with government plans to increase access to psychological therapies for children, young people and their families.

The Postgraduate Award promotes multi-professional teamwork and multidisciplinary thinking. In the counselling and psychotherapy profession, recent developments have also included the introduction of a Senior Accreditation in Counselling Children and Young People by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Taught over one intensive two-day weekend, with a follow up day after a period of independent study, practical and experiential exercises will be combined with the blended delivery of materials using a Virtual Learning Environment. Assessment is entirely by coursework.
