Application Information

Course overview

If you wish to study Philosophy at an advanced level, selecting the MPhil option will enable you to progress from two years taught skills training into a further two years research-focused doctoral study.

You will pursue advanced research topics in three of the main areas of Philosophy, and you’ll be assigned a different academic specialist to supervise your work for each one. Your learning will centre primarily on the regular production of sustained pieces of philosophical prose and their critical scrutiny in your one-to-one fortnightly supervisions.

Supervisions give you an unparalleled opportunity to explore ideas closely with experienced academic colleagues as you develop your own PhD research topic.
