Increased public scrutiny has highlighted the need to strengthen leadership within the healthcare sector.This course brings together expertise from Warwick Medical School and Warwick Business School to focus specifically on the skills and behaviours needed to rise to these challenges.Quick Links Who is the course for?This is a multidisciplinary course and is suitable for anyone interested in pursuing a leadership role in the healthcare sector, whether from a clinical, managerial or administrative background.Course requirements:All candidates must satisfy the Board of Graduate Studies’ requirements for entry.

Course content:

Introduction to Leadership in Health Care
Finance and Productivity in Health Care
Improving Safety and Quality in Health Care
Modules will usually be delivered over five days, split into two blocks (three days + two days) separated by six to eight weeks. This allows time to put into practice what you have learnt and to reflect on your learning.

This PGCert programme will be the foundation for those who wish to progress to Diploma or Masters studies, planned to be available in the future.

Entry requirements:

The minimum entry requirements are a second class honours (2:2) undergraduate degree or the international equivalent. Applicants with appropriate prior experience and learning will be considered.

If your first language is not English you will be expected to obtain one of the following recognised English Language qualifications:

IELTS (British Council International Testing System) overall score of at least 6.5 (with 6.5 in the reading and writing components)
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of at least 600 (paper based) or 250 (computer based) or 92 (internet-based iBT)
PTE (Pearson Test of English) score of 55

Teaching:

Teaching will be provided by a combination of academics with substantial experience of working within the healthcare sector and subject matter experts from the field.

Typical sessions will entail lectures, seminars and workshop formats, with a maximum of 30 attendees, while some elements of the course will be underpinned by online learning.

Students will have access to the full range of library and IT facilities provided by The University of Warwick.

Assessments:There will be a 4,000 word assignment for each module, which will relate to the workplace. Assessments will be submitted online.

All assessments are designed to integrate the theoretical knowledge acquired during the programme with real world application in the workplace.
