International tuition fees are 14,000 Euros per year. The University also offers generous scholarships as tuition fee waivers up to 6,000 Euros available across both years of study.
You do not have to pay tuition fee if you:
- are an EU/EEA citizen
- are equivalent to an EU/EEA citizen (i.e. citizen of Switzerland)
- have a permanent residence permit (type P)
- have an EU Blue Card
- have a continuous residence permit in Finland for purposes other than studies. However, please note that in the following cases the tuition fee is charged:
- If the first residence permit in Finland was granted for the purpose of studying, tuition fees must be paid, even if a type A permit is later obtained on other grounds.
- If the type A permit is based on family ties, and the family member originally came to Finland on a residence permit granted for studying, tuition fees are required.
- If the type A permit is granted for studying, tuition fees are required.

Our major in Strategic Project Management educates experts who can consider the needs and opportunities of project management theory, concept and analysis in an engineering context. You will learn how to plan, manage, and execute projects, while also gaining insights into industry standards and relevant frameworks. When using analytical tools for decision-making, planning and control, you will be able to manage projects in a lean and strategically effective way. You will learn about innovations and sustainability as well as ethical practices in project management. The content of the programme is designed to be compatible with the requirements of the IPMA level C. If you have a sufficient working history, you can pursue the IPMA level C certificate at your own cost and take the certification examination.
After completing this degree, you will be eligible for doctoral studies. You will be able to develop sustainable and ethical solutions and new knowledge to benefit society and industry. Moreover, you will gain valuable career skills such as problem-solving and decision-making, critical thinking and working in international teams.
The major in Strategic Project Management is a part of the Master's programme in Industrial Engineering and Management. The duration of studies is 2 years (120 ECTS credits). This is a full-time on-campus programme taught completely in the city of Seinäjoki.
Entry requirements
Strategic Project Management (Master of Science in Technology) (arranged in the city of Seinäjoki)
1. Scope of the degree
- A recognized 3- or 4-year bachelor’s degree at a higher education institution (HEI) which is considered equivalent to a Finnish bachelor’s degree. In the rolling admission, the degree must be completed outside of Finland. There are guidelines available for those who have completed their degree outside the EU: Entry guidance for international qualifications.
2. Prior studies in an appropriate field. A degree in business studies is generally not an appropriate degree.
- The appropriate fields are: material science and engineering, metallurgial engineering, paper science engineering, plastics engineering, process engineering, construction management, structural engineering, transport/transportation engineering, water (resources) engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronic(s) engineering, mechatronics/mechatronical engineering, network engineering, optical engineering/optical science and engineering, power systems engineering, software engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, management science/engineering, manufacturing/production engineering, operations engineering, supply chain management/engineering, systems engineering, acoustical/sound engineering, aeronautical engineering, automation engineering, aerospace engineering, astronautical engineering, automotive engineering, aviation engineering, energy engineering, marine engineering/naval architecture, ocean engineering, production technology or machine shop engineering, renewable energy engineering, robotics engineering, thermal engineering/science, applied engineering, metallurgy engineering, nuclear engineering, petroleum engineering, data science, cyber security, information technology, control engineering, wood processing technology, computing, digital technology, information networks, or information management.
- Applicants with an appropriate degree in business (e.g. industrial management) can be selected without previous technology/engineering studies. If selected, the students will include the required supplementary technology/engineering studies in their MSc in Technology. The supplementary studies are specified in the curriculum.
3. Applicant’s overall cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in previous degree, including the thesis or final report if applicable, must be at least 3,00/5 (ECTS grading). Applicants with the highest CGPA will be prioritized.
