Course fee notes

International tuition fees are 14,000 Euros per year. The University also offers generous scholarships as tuition fee waivers up to 6,000 Euros available across both years of study.

You do not have to pay tuition fee if you:

  • are an EU/EEA citizen
  • are equivalent to an EU/EEA citizen (i.e. citizen of Switzerland)
  • have a permanent residence permit (type P)
  • have an EU Blue Card
  • have a continuous residence permit in Finland for purposes other than studies. However, please note that in the following cases the tuition fee is charged:
    • If the first residence permit in Finland was granted for the purpose of studying, tuition fees must be paid, even if a type A permit is later obtained on other grounds.
    • If the type A permit is based on family ties, and the family member originally came to Finland on a residence permit granted for studying, tuition fees are required.
    • If the type A permit is granted for studying, tuition fees are required.

If you hold a bachelor's degree in business administration or technology with a focus on business studies, the Industrial Management major offers a perfect pathway to elevate your career.

The major provides comprehensive expertise in key areas such as supply chain management and logistics, technology and innovation management, product and service development, and production and operations management. You will gain the skills needed to drive innovation, optimize processes, and lead in industries where technology meets business.

These studies will prepare you for specialist roles in supply chain management, logistics, innovation management, product and service development, and operational leadership and opens the door to a dynamic career where you can lead the way in creating sustainable solutions for the future. In addition, the degree provides eligibility for doctoral studies in the field of business studies.

With Industrial Management as your major, you can specialise in either Supply Chain Management and Operations Management or Technology Management and Innovations. These pathways provide the vital skills sought after by high-tech companies around the world. You can also take the IPMA certification test, and if successfully passed, use it as a proof of basic project management skills.

Courses consist of lectures, group work, projects, presentations, and final exams. The studies include both online and in-class teaching. This is a full-time on-campus programme taking place in Vaasa. Some courses are offered in hybrid mode for the final year spring to support also online participation.

The major in Industrial Management is a part of the Master's programme in Industrial Engineering and Management. The duration of studies is 2 years (120 ECTS credits).


Entry requirements

Industrial Management (Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration)

1. Scope of the degree

  • A recognized 3- or 4-year bachelor’s degree at a higher education institution (HEI) which is considered equivalent to a Finnish bachelor’s degree. In the rolling admission, the degree must be completed outside of Finland. There are guidelines available for those who have completed their degree outside the EU: Entry guidance for international qualifications.

2. Prior studies in an appropriate field. The approriate fields include e.g. business studies or technology.

  • The appropriate fields are: industrial management (business degree), supply chain management, innovation and product development, operations management, project management, strategic management, business analytics, econometrics, economics, finance, international marketing, management.
  • If the applicant does not have one of these degrees mentioned above, the background education is considered suitable if the degree includes min. 20 % of academic business studies, or at least 35 ECTS (or equivalent) of academic business studies have been completed outside of the degree. The academic business studies must consist of one or several of the following: accounting and finance, economics, operations management, information systems, business law, HR management, strategic management, international business, entrepreneurship and marketing.
  • Applicants with an appropriate degree in technology (e.g. industrial engineering) can be selected without previous business studies. If selected, the students will include 15-20 ECTS credits of supplementary business studies in their MSc in Economics and Business Administration degree. The supplementary studies are specified in the curriculum.

3. Applicant’s overall cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in previous degree, including the thesis or final report if applicable, must be at least 3,00/5 (ECTS grading). Applicants with the highest CGPA will be prioritized.
